This painting is with Candita Clayton Gallery. Part of the Show Blossom up through August and into September. It is a wonderful show with collages by Jenny Brown and photographic work by Kate Wilson.
I began on a multi colored ground.
Its remarkable that I didn't just keel over and die from the beauty of the magnificent bouquet by Moriah at Juniper Blue Floral Studio.
With Fritillaria, Muscari (Grape Hyacinth), Hibiscus, Hellebore, Parrot tulips, Sweet pea (red ones!), and... hmm? the leggy ones, with the tiny yellow blossoms? I can't remember what they are called.
I am fond of Windsor Newton's Windsor Red.
This is the finish.
30"x40", oil still life painting on canvas.
Do you see this bit of blue tape next to the Hibiscus? Sometimes I have to coerce parts to participate in my vision.
I was enchanted by the way the arrangement lived and changed -blossoms opening, dying, drying, some reaching for the light, some drooping- so much shift and decay!-
Engrossing and difficult to stick with a single composition. I began other versions on the easel now that may take shape this fall.
Here is the painting installed at the gallery.
