Last night I dreamt that I found a storage room which contained a pair of ruby slippers. I wondered to myself if there was a pair in my size and then realized the slippers fit me perfectly! Today I was reminded that Dorothy got the slippers because she killed the Wicked Witch of the East by accident when her house landed on the witch. So: she inherited the riby slippers and the power that came with them but that put her on the hot seat with the Wicked Witch of the West... There's no place like home.
The dream reminded me of an unfinished painting of this other pair of ruby slippers I like so much. (Yes thats my MFA Diploma on the wall. I like to keep it handy lest I forget all the rights and privileges it entitles me to.)
Oh bright memory! Out of the blue yesterday my sister texted a photo of some Moroccon slippers which she and I shopped for together. Today I am grappling with my own pair on a large scale in oil and here in watercolor at 6"x4".
I filched this from casapinka back in December and its been on my bullitin board since. (While you are there note her beautiful Moroccan-themed banner.) The painting an eye catching 18"x24", oil on canvas and makes me very happy.
Beloved Colette came in with these glittery golden platforms to paint today in Open Studio Still Life Painting Class. Yup. *%!!#@*^%**!!!!!!!!! I thought. But here they are and I am feeling quite pleased with myself. Thank you for expanding my horizons and adding the categoy "Glam" to my blog Colette.
