After yesterday's watercolor class I had a great conversation with another artist about how paintings can be more interesting the more that is left to the imagination. Back in the studio I asked myself, on her advice, "How little can I do to express my ideas here?" and tried to stop before I thought I was finished so as to leave more room for the viewer to get in there and play.

For a few days in marrakech Elizabeth and I stayed in a suite of rooms over an alleyway a few steps from the Jma el Fnaa. These two windows looked in opposite directions over the pinky-orange alleyway (the name of which I cannot locate on any map).
Ive been haveing a very difficult time focusing on painting lately. I can't seem to lose myself in it and that is immensely frustrating. But I figure if I keep showing up at the easle the good feeling will return.
From trader joes, couldn't resist getting both the pink and the orange.
I started 2 oil paintings of this still life over the weekend. after dropping off captain spectacular with my sister in law I went straight to the market to amass the most outrageous bouquet possible.
