A sunny day cloud for a dark rainy day here in Rhode Island. I am not sure why its clouds I want to paint lately. I tried starting out a few bird sketches (to be in keeping with the below information which I wished to post) this morning: to no avail. I heard myself saying, outloud, "I just don't want to paint birds right now". It was clear as day so I let myself turn happily back to this painting I began yesterday. Oil on canvas, 40"x30".
I am glad to say I'll be participating again in Bird's of a Feather, Katherine Lovell's annual invitational art show. It will be held at her new studio in Tiverton, RI. The opening reception is Saturday eveing September 8, 6-9PM, I would love to see you there!

Inspired by Elizabeth's exquisite animal drawings and her recent playful post. This burrowing Owl from the Audubon calendar is standing guard over his lair. Captain Spectacular said, " Mommy, he's not standing guard,he is Standing...CUTE!". (Looks like a character is a Wes Anderson movie, no?
Thank you to the Audubon society of rhode island for another lovely day. This time at the Bristol McIntosh Wildlife Refuge (always a good time). During story time I snuck off to sketch for a few minutes. Today's "animal interview" was with a barred owl. In french class this evening I learned that the word for owl is hibou and for sparrow-moineau .
