Yesterday we went to see the Thomas Sgouros exhibit at RISD's Woods-Gerry Gallery. It was deeply satisfying to see his early work, watercolors and thoughtful still lifes along with the remembered landscapes that he is famous for. The subtlety of his still life paintings had me trying this one last night. 16"x20", oil on canvas.
Thanks so much to everyone for coming to the opening at AS220 last Saturday! I thought the Visual scavenger hunts that Benjamin and I made were a great sucess, provoking an intense interaction with the art.
