Inspired by my friend Emily Hildebrand who included me in a three paintings a day challenge. My time hasn't allowed for exactly that this past few days but the invitation did help me do three studies of these anemones, where before I felt I only had time for one. I found myself becoming progressively more interested and was very glad to have had a reason to make three.
The little bowl was made by ceramicist Judy Jackson, this one found at Studio Hop in Providence.
One evening last week , just after watching the sun go down from the roof of our hotel in Boughrar- listening to the evening prayers, watching the storks fly into their nest nearby-I stood in the darkened stairwell of our hotel which afforded a view of the little market across the tiny street (the "hahn-oot"). These men were chatting there. It was a peaceful moment and good to be able to draw them, so close at hand, while they were at ease with themselves.
