For me the story of Frida Kahlo is one of struggling to find joy and freedom in an injured body and imperfect world. Her life was a gloriously vibrant attempt to reconcile a firece desire for indepencdance with an equally firece desire for security. A grappling which seems to me to characterize much of our shared human experience.
Tonight the Weaver Library in East Providence presents The Life and Times of Frida Kahlo in conjunction with the Artists Loop, to kick off their spring film series. I'll make some brief introductory remarks and facilitate a discussion afterwards. Come find out what extraordinary circumstances formed this cultural icon and the powerful images associated with her.
The program will begin promptly at 6:30Pm and will run until 8PM.
