Daily Painting

Painting #362, midnight.

Last night I was up late talking with a dear friend. After seeing her off at the end if my father's drive this scene led me home. It was absurdly picturesque! The candle in the far off window (albeit electric) and big smoky moon and all. I ran inside to coat my self with "deep woods off" and then returned to take in the sight. (Watercolor.)

Captain Spectacular and I are in the dense swamp of Northern Virginia visiting my family. I got this nifty little moleskine watercolor sketchbook for the journey.

Oil on canvas, 11"x14".  I have always wanted to paint some fruit on a string.  (We have no less than three pear trees in our little city yard so I had at them.)  See Juan Sanchez Cotan, ca.1561.

Painting #358 + Kung Fu Panda wisdom.

Here is a little Kung Fu Panda wisdom as reported by my 6 year old:  "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift; that's why they call it the present!".  Pretty cool.

Collage in a box.

  I got a Faber Castle mixed media collage kit for a young friend but it turns out I am way more interested than she.  The panel and background paper in this collage are from that kit.  Its really neat with all sorts of designed paper and pictures and words.  Instantly gratifying.
