I post "daily paintings" because it gets me out of the ambiguous soup inside my head. Putting actual pictures with words and numbers on the internet creates an alchemy that makes me feel productive and gives my work meaning than it seems to have for me without an audience. Accepting this fact allows me to use it as fuel and paint more. So heres today's work.

I want wallpaper that looks like the blue and white in the back! So so lovely, I can't wait to see it done! Also, the bouquet on the right will be beautiful, I just know it.

So, you paint a base color, then the attention-getting bits, and then the midground?
I'm new to this painting thing. I hope I'm not being too inquisitive.

Inquisitive is where its at sweetheart!. Yes, its often called a ground tone and that can be in acrylic. Then i like to start with the lightest parts of the painting and then the darkest, then the middle values. If you would like to see more process I think that I have some in my "portraits" archive. I'd be happy to post some more.
Thanks pinksuedeshoes!

I'm learning so much just looking at your paintings already!
I'm an art history major (oh so non-traditional) at a midwest university whose art department is just an adjunct to their teacher's ed program. There will be a painting class, but I don't know how much learning there will be, so I'm trying to piece together theory on my own.
