Today I received a box of teeny-tiny blocks of wood from Art-o-Mat. Very exciting!
The one on the right turned into my fisher price version of Portrait of Monsieur and Madame Edmondo Morbilli. c.1865 by Edgar Degas. (He casts a shadow across her face.) It had to be done.

Have you read "Picture This, How pictures Work" by Molly Bang? Go get a copy! (okay, I have no idea if there is a copy at Myopic books but its fun to add links to cool places.) I learned about it in Cheryl kirk Noll's Risd class, "the book dummy", a couple of years ago. Art and visual Perception by Rudolph Arnheim is another excellent- much more scholarly- book on the subject of visual perception, while I'm at it.
Oil on canvas, 4"x6", Block Island.
